Welcome From Our Principal

Dear Boys Prep community,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It is with great optimism and excitement that I begin the new school year with you as your principal. Our theme this year is “building together.” We are excited that construction has begun on the new school building that will house all our boys next year. We are also building and strengthening our teacher teams, our leadership teams, family engagement, and our organizational systems in order to continue to improve the academic achievement of all students. I invite all of you to join me as “builders” in our journey this year.

We have assembled a strong team of educational and operational staff that has already laid the foundation for a successful year. Thank you to each member of my staff for your efforts and commitment to our school, our boys, and our families, evident in all your efforts these last few weeks. I am grateful that our parents and the community continue to support and partner with us. I encourage all families to get involved, as we build together.

We have been preparing all summer for the start of the school year, guided by our “North Star” to college completion, a goal we hold for each of our boys. This star comprises of 5 points that represent character development, college knowledge, organizational stability and staff engagement, satisfaction of scholars and parents, and academic achievement.

We believe that this strategy symbolized by a star will guide us toward the reality of every Boys Prep graduate being successful in college and beyond. This year we had our first cohort of students enter college. Over 90% of our graduates were accepted into prestigious colleges, receiving almost 5 million dollars in scholarships. This is our dream for all our scholars at Boys Prep.

How we achieve this goal is driven by our core values of:

  • Scholarship (a commitment to learning everyday)
  • Merit (the harder I try the more I will achieve)
  • Brotherhood (I depend on my brothers and they depend on me)
  • Responsibility (I choose to do the right thing, even when no one is looking)

I ask the entire Boys Prep community; scholars, families and staff to join me in dedicating ourselves to these values such that they are reflected in everything we do; particularly in the way in which we interact with each other. Let’s continue to build a strong learning community that is a joyful and inspirational place for us all.
